What personal characteristics define an excellent administrator? I believe that an excellent administrator is defined by the connection between his/her words and actions. School administrators must possess the skills to motivate a vast array of people towards a common purpose, that of educating children. The ability to motivate people comes through building a collaborative culture around teaching and learning. A collaborative culture requires an environment where ideas and input are encouraged from all levels of the system, including students, parents and community. |

I began my love for education over 12 years ago, and have been involved with Highland Tech since its opening in 2003. The journey of being a part of this school has been life changing. It is my hope that Highland Tech becomes a lighthouse for districts across the nation as it grows and evolves as part of the Reinventing Schools Coalition. Educational reform is imperative and I believe that by fighting for change, on a daily basis, we are pushing the boundaries of what can be done by an organization. Through our shared leadership and learning, we are asking the right questions, and solving the right problems together. It isn't an easy journey, but it is my hope that the students of Highland Tech have the tools necessary to be leaders of their lives, and advocates for a better world. |
