Rebecca Midles has been involved with Highland Tech High School since the opening. Her hope and desire is for students to gain the tools and confidence to achieve a life that is not shaped by limitations, but is instead defined by the pursuit of personal interests and acquisition of personal goals.

Laura began her love for teaching at the young age of 18 when she taught a tap class in Athens, Georgia as a summer job, and since then, has enjoyed every inch of the path in teaching. 2007 marks her eighth year of teaching and she hopes that her students can still feel the excitement of her classroom. The moments that she shares with her students make her a better person each and every day.
One of her goals with students is to always live through their eyes, and remember those times when she was laboring through the halls of middle and high school with so many unanswered questions. She has strong beliefs in the power behind expression, whether that is through writing, speaking, singing, or drawing, and feels that it is the gateway for self discovery. When people discover balance and self-awareness, they are more powerful for our world which she hopes she transfers to her students. Active citizens are the key to human success!
In addition to being a teacher, Laura loves to travel, write, read, ski, socialize, hike, bike, and just get out there! She enjoys thinking and debating about global issues, human rights, and the never ending plight of our situation. Her stretch goal for herself is to one day publish a book on teaching that emphasizes peach concepts, but until, is satisfied with gathering more knowledge on the craft.
She is a strong supporter of the Quality Schools Model, and what Highland is trying to accomplish because she believes that educational reform is critical for improvement of the world.
